Research Fellow Ellen Røed reflects on the nature of understanding in the exhibition Skyvelære

The exhibition is part of the final artistic result of Røed’s three year long project Processing Change as Research Fellow at Bergen National Academy of Arts. Galleri 3,14 in Bergen, Norway, is the venue for the exhibition which will be open from 13 June to 11 August 2013.

Composed of the words sliding and knowing, the Norwegian term Skyvelære means caliper, a device for measuring distance.

In the exhibition Ellen Røed is reflecting on devices and procedures that are used in video art and in the natural sciences. She considers various relationships involved in creating representations: field trips, storytelling, gathering or capturing of data, measuring and calibrating.

The exhibition will be opened on 13 June by Dr Werner Schmutz, Director of Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos / World Radiation Center, Switzerland.

Ellen Røed is taking part in the The Norwegian Artistic Research Programme, which is parallel to other research educations organised as academic PhD programmes. The Programme intends to secure high level artistic research and leads to expertise as Associate Professor.
