The Google definition of thesis is a “statement or theory that is put forward as a premise to be maintained or proved.” An MFA thesis exhibition is (arguably) an embodiment of a premise put forward by an artist working outside of market pressures and inside the shelter of an institution in which experimentation is encouraged and the emphasis is on process and learning. MassArt invites you to view the 2013 MFA thesis exhibitions and consider the propositions put forward by the 26 brave artists who are about to go outside.
