MA in History of Art and the Art Market: Modern and Contemporary Art
The Christie’s Education MA program explores the history of modern art in Europe and the United States from 1850 to the present day.
With a full-time schedule the course covers a range of topics over three terms beginning with a survey of modern art, connoisseurship seminars, a history of the art market, art business, and the historiography and methods of art history.
Led by art world experts and academics, the program includes a number of field trips to exhibitions around the East Coast of the United States and abroad as well as frequent visits to the incredible range of museums and galleries that New York has to offer.
MA students also take on full-time internships in the fall term choosing from a wide range of businesses including Christie’s auction house, commercial galleries, non-profit art institutions and museums.
Part-time certificate courses
Christie’s Education New York also offers certificate courses in Modern and Contemporary Art and Art Business. These part-time programs allow students to immerse themselves in the New York art world in a flexible way offering lectures, seminars and study trips.
The Christie’s Art Business certificate course is designed for both art-world professionals and newcomers who wish to gain in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the art market. Lectures and discussions are led by art-world specialists who offer unique insights into the business of art.
