UCL Qatar is currently accepting applications for places on its MA Museum and Gallery Practice degree programme, commencing 26 August 2013. This is a one-year programme that gives students in-depth exposure to all of the skills required to successfully work in a leading professional role within a museum or gallery, from collections care to curation and exhibition management. There is a significant practical element to the course, including an extended placement in a local, regional or international museum or gallery. The programme is intended to give graduates all the necessary transferrable skills and expertise to be a leader within the cultural heritage sector.
Established in 2011, UCL Qatar is a branch campus of University College London, one of the world’s foremost institutions for the study of archaeology, conservation, cultural heritage and museology. UCL Qatar welcomed its first intake of 32 students from 13 countries in August 2012.

Dissertation:
All students undertake an independent research project, which culminates in a dissertation of 12,000 words.
Placement:
Students will undertake a four-week placement at a museum, gallery or cultural heritage organisation in Qatar or the wider region.

Scholarships
A range of full scholarships are available for successful candidates. Candidates who apply on time and receive offers of admission are automatically considered for funding. They will be notified of the outcome in early June 2013. Funding is awarded on the basis of academic merit.
Entry requirements
In order to be successful in securing admission, candidates must have a good Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, normally with a minimum final GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0 or equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate strong motivation and a clear understanding of what the course entails, via the personal statement section of the application form. Relevant work experience, for example in a museum or the cultural heritage sector, will also be considered.
