Application deadline extended to Monday 29 April 2013

The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) launches the 2013 Young Curator and Curatorial Internships Programs, as well as the 2014 Visiting Scholar Program.

The CCA provides scholars with a unique research environment and direct access to its Collection, and fosters different thematic lines of research that will have major impact on its future programs and activities. The reflection on new historiographical models for contemporary discourse, the relevance of digital technologies in the evolution of architectural and planning thinking, the interest in environmental studies, and the changing role of photography in architectural media are specific areas of interest for the CCA.

The Visiting Scholar Program is addressed to architects, planners, landscape designers, scholars and critics in related fields conducting research on post-doctoral or advanced academic levels for periods of one to four months. Applicants should have completed a PhD at the time of application; alternatively, they should provide evidence of significant scholar or professional achievements.

The Young Curator Program offers the opportunity to propose and curate a project on the contemporary debate in architecture, urbanism, and landscape design during a residency of three months at the CCA. Architects, journalists, designers, critics, historians and practitioners in any other relevant field born on or after 1 January 1978 are eligible.

With the generous support of the Power Corporation of Canada, the Curatorial Internships Program encourages students and recent graduates in design disciplines, arts and humanities born on or after 1 January 1983 to become acquainted with the CCA’s collection, exhibition, and research programs through an internship of six to nine months in Montréal.

By hosting these programs, the CCA recognizes curatorial practice as an emerging critical component of the architectural profession and a complement to academic programs.

The call for applications for these programs will remain open until 29 April 2013.

The Young Curator residency and the internships begin in Fall 2013. The residency of the Visiting Scholars begins in Spring 2014.
