The MFA Art Criticism & Writing program has a rolling admissions process, which means that we accept applications throughout the spring and into the summer for Fall 2013 admission (space permitting). The Art Criticism & Writing Lecture Series
at the School of Visual Arts in New York City is now in its ninth season at the SVA Theatre on 23rd Street in Chelsea. Over the past four years, it has become one of the most popular lecture series in New York, welcoming writers like Susan Buck-Morss, Michael Taussig, Dave Hickey, Peter Schjeldahl, Ann Lauterbach, Boris Groys, Cuauhtémoc Medina, Lynne Tillman, Lucy Lippard, T. J. Clark, Linda Nochlin, Rob Storr, David Graeber, and Elaine Scarry to our stage.

All lectures are free and open to the public in the SVA Theatre at 333 West 23rd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues).

The Art Criticism & Writing graduate program at SVA offers a two-year course of study leading to an MFA degree. For students who want to improve their writing and advance their knowledge of contemporary art, theory, literature, and history, this concentrated program offers seminars taught by prominent critics, editors, philosophers, poets, and artists, including Michael Brenson, Ann Lauterbach, Nancy Princenthal, Lynne Tillman, Claudia La Rocco, Alan Gilbert, William Benton, Charles Stein, Phong Bui, Trinie Dalton, Munro Galloway, and Lucy Raven.
