There’s still time to complete your application to the Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance!

We know that taking on an educational certificate while excelling in a full time job is a challenging endeavor, but nearly 75% of ICPP students have full time jobs during the program.

We invite you to call or email us to see how ICPP can work for you.

The Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance (ICPP) brings together artists, curators, presenters and cultural leaders to encourage innovative and relevant curatorial approaches to presenting time-based art.

Now in its third year, the ICPP will offer a 2013–2014 professional certificate program in Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Students will complete courses in artistic and curatorial practice, social and cultural context, and entrepreneurial strategies and create an independent project in consultation with an advisor. Through a close examination of the practical and theoretical concerns of the performing arts, graduates of the ICPP certificate program will:

• Deepen their knowledge of diverse curatorial practices
• Improve critical thinking and writing skills
• Enhance their professional relationships

Current instructors include ICPP Director Samuel A. Miller; Wesleyan faculty Katja Kolcio, Nicole Stanton, and Mari Dumett; field professionals Philip Bither of the Walker Art Center, Doryun Chong of MoMA, Kristy Edmunds of the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA, and Judy Hussie-Taylor of Danspace Project; and ethnomusicologist Steven Taylor.

The certificate is a low-residency, nine-month academic program. Students will complete work online in between on-campus intensives at Wesleyan University. Dates for the 2013–14 on-campus intensives are: July 12–28, 2013; November 15–18, 2013; March 8–11, 2014.

Applications are available online. Please visit www.wesleyan.edu/icpp for more information and to apply.
