Action Surf Photography in Rincon, Puerto Rico

Dive into surf culture in this intensive eight-day workshop taught by leading action photographers with professional surfers in action as your subject.

SVA in LA: Film & Animation: Behind-the-Scene Series
Guest speakers: Joel Harlow, Michael Giacchino, Mark Ulano and Jason Blum

Visit film and animation studios in the Hollywood area and interact with some of today’s leading filmmakers and production artists who create and shape the work we see on both the big screen and television.

Advance Digital Photography in Southern France

The opulence of Avignon, the wildness of Carmargue and the quaintness of the Luberon have made Provence an inspiring destination for centuries. With the goal of creating a new body of work, participants will unlock their inner passion as they discover the overwhelming beauty of southern France.

Inspiration From the Past – Interior Design Solutions for the Future: Florence and Venice

Experience and study Italian Renaissance architecture and design, gain an in-depth understanding of their concepts and sensibilities, and explore how these concepts can be reinterpreted and applied to contemporary design today

The Artist’s Journal: Istanbul
Instructor: Peter Hristoff
May 27–June 13
Istanbul is currently undergoing a renaissance that makes it a “must-see” destination for travelers, and a hub of international politics, business and culture, with these elements merging to create a new kind of 21st-century megalopolis. Daily drawing from observation will be combined with an investigation of all that Istanbul offers, from the Spice Market to the Covered Bazaar, from the rooftop lounges to the waterside café of the Istanbul Modern on the shores of the Bosphorus Strait.

Art History in Southern France

Provence is ripe with historical splendors. With daily explorations of ruins, amphitheaters, and medieval architecture, participants will be immersed in the grandeur that inspired Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne.

Exploring the Culinary Arts on the Italian Riviera

Join us in discovering culinary arts of the Italian Riviera, the scenically spectacular coast of Liguria, the relatively little known region that is the homeland of some of Italy’s best-loved foods: ravioli, minestrone, pesto and focaccia.

Digital Photography in Shanghai

Shanghai has become an integral hub for Asia’s burgeoning art and photography worlds. Its rich with photographic possibilities and offers an incredible blend of the ancient and the modern. Participants will engage with the Shanghai art community while savoring the city’s ferocious colors and interweaving of Western ideas with Eastern traditions.

Masters Workshop: Design History, Theory & Practice in Rome
Instructors: Steven Heller, Lita Talarico, Louise Fili

In this intensive workshop taught by leading Italian and American designers, participants will analyze the roots of typography while exploring the ancient ruins and monuments that gave birth to Western type.

Painting in Barcelona

Spending two weeks this summer in the beautiful city of Barcelona to concentrate on your painting may be the opportunity you’ve been seeking to further develop your skills or to explore new directions in style or technique. This welcoming Mediterranean city inspired Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Antonio Tàpies, and will challenge you to clarify your artistic vision.

Food Design in Reims, France
Instructors: Emilie Baltz
June 29–July 7
This nine-day immersive workshop is a delicious foray into the growing field of food design. The program will take place in Reims, the French capital of champagne, in the kitchens of l’Ecole Superieure d’Art et Design de Reims, home to the first culinary design program in the world.  Emphasizing a maker-driven, cooking-centric approach, the program will reveal new perspectives into the ways that we engage  and identify with our food.

Lighting For Portrait and Fashion Photography in Barcelona
Instructor: Janusz Kawa
July 6–16
Barcelona has always been a prime destination for editorial fashion locations, and this beautiful city is often featured as a background for the fashion spreads in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. In both studio and outdoor classes, participants will learn to react quickly to ever-changing lighting situations, while discovering the best tools for shooting portraits.
