The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) seeks exceptional artists, architects, and scholars for full-time, tenured or tenure-track positions in a variety of disciplines—Architecture, Art History, Fiber and Materials Studies, Painting and Drawing, and Sculpture—to join the ranks of its renowned faculty. Applicants are expected to have an active professional practice, with experience and commitment to teaching at the college-level. Rank and salary are competitive with peer institutions, and are commensurate with quality of scholarship or practice, extent of teaching experience, and current professional standing. All positions begin in August 2013.
Faculty are responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses and graduate seminars, and working individually with graduate students in the tutorial fashion for which SAIC’s graduate programs are known. Faculty are expected to maintain active professional practices, contribute to the vibrant and creative culture of a prestigious art school, and participate in departmental and school-wide committees and service to the institution. There is an expectation that all full-time tenured faculty will chair their department on a rotating basis as well.
