The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts
University of Gothenburg, Sweden
Closing date for applications – 12 January 2012
The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg is advertising for Heads of Departments at two new departments.
Our faculty is currently undergoing a development process that is to result in an organisational reform. This reform will enable us to face the challenges a changing world poses to education and research in the arts—challenges which include paradigms such as cross-artistic and cross-disciplinary collaboration in tandem with stable, high-quality, cutting-edge subject environments.
The names of the new departments will be decided during spring 2012.
FINE ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, FILM and LITERATURE
We invite you to apply for a position as Head of Department at an entirely new department to be formed on 1st July 2012. This multidisciplinary environment will have a unique breadth within the arts and will include the following disciplines: Fine Art, Photography, Film and Literature.
As Head of Department you will lead the work to create an intradepartmental and interdisciplinary culture responsible for developing artists for the twenty-first century, the foundation of which will be based on participation and exchange between different artistic, pedagogical and research perspectives.
DESIGN, CRAFTS and ARTS & CRAFTS EDUCATION
We invite you to apply for a position as Head of Department at the newly formed Department of Design, Crafts and Arts & Crafts Education. With this initiative, the Department is now taking a step towards further developing its profile and subject areas, while cross-disciplinary and international collaborations also continue to develop in the multidisciplinary environment of the Faculty.
Design and Crafts in education and research have a long history at the University of Gothenburg, and it is with this tradition and experience as our foundation that we now strive to develop and achieve a future-oriented arena for artists, designers and teachers who are independent, and given the opportunity to reflect and experiment.
