MISSION STATEMENT AND POSITION WITHIN INSTITUTIONAL ORGANIGRAMThe Director operates under the authority of the School Board, and ensures the direction of the institution, supported by three assistant directors, responsible for: Pedagogy, Human Resources and Financial and Legal affairs.
He/She manages a budget of 8M Euros and oversees a team of approximately 150 people.
The Director drives the global school policy, giving impetus to a strong institutional project – he/she manages the school’s artistic and pedagogical projects, and ensures the continuous development and healthy reputation of the school.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Piloting of the institution’s cultural and pedagogical project
The Director elaborates and implements the school’s cultural and pedagogical project while reporting on its execution to the Board.
The Director ensures adherence to the announced teaching programmes of the institution, issuing national qualifications within the framework of French higher artistic education.
He/She confirms the pedagogical vocation of the institution and proposes an ambitious strategy in terms of research, mediation of knowledge and cultural events so as to prioritize the integration of graduates into the world of contemporary art, all the while reinforcing and expanding the school’s reputation.
He/She develops and extends the reputation of the school by playing a dynamic, active role within the larger regional, national and international institutional networks and through the implementation of strong partnerships with other actors in the domains of artistic education, contemporary art, universities and research.
Management of resources
The Director is expected to implement all the resources necessary to the functioning of the institution.
Management and human resources
He/She brings his/her skills to bear on the overarching school project and it’s pedagogical aspect.
He/She ensures the direction of the whole of the school departments and holds authority over all members of staff.
In terms of recruitment, he/she gives his/her opinion on the nominees proposed by the Council.
He/She may exercise disciplinary powers with regards to students, as a follow on from recommendations delivered by the disciplinary board.
Budget
He/She defines and proposes the financial orientation of the institution and prepares arbitrations to be brought before the board.
He supervises the monitoring of the budget.
The Director supervises the implementation of financial analyses and supports necessary to decision making, implementation of ‘tableaux de bord’ and monthly reporting.
He reinforces , the analysis of eventual anomalies and their origins, and defines the relevant indicators necessary to the running of operations which have been engaged.
Administrative and legal management
The Director is responsible for the securing of administrative and legal acts : contracts, conventions, public markets, specification sheets…
Site management
In collaboration with the qualified departments, the Director ensures the maintenence of conditions for optimum use of the site, ensuring that all regulations pertaining to fire safety, and accessibility in institutions open to the public are respected.

Strong knowledge of the artistic millieu in general and of contemporary art in particular
Strong knowledge of the school environment and associated professional networks

Capacity to direct and manage an establishment of a similar size and status / nature
Capacity to maintain and develop a network and stimulate partnerships

Strong relational and managerial qualities.
