The chair is located at the Ädellab Metal Department which offers a program for students who have in view to make achievements on high international level within the subject area of jewelry and/or corpus (silversmith art). Emphasis is given to experimental approach and a strong individual standpoint. We believe that the choice of material and techniques should not be based on tradition but rather on the intended expression. Theory of arts and philosophy constitute an integrated part of the compulsory program.
The aim of the program is to provide the students with advanced practical and theoretical knowledge required in order to develop an independent and relevant artistry for the contexts they create or choose to be active in, using the potential offered by the craft based comprehension of jewelry and silversmith art. The department is acting together with art schools in the rest of Europe through workshops, joint course items, students exchange and networking.
Ädellab offers a three-year undergraduate program and a two-year Master’s group. Each year about 15 students from the all over the world are admitted to the both programs.
Duties
The duties of the professor involve responsibility for the artistic management and development of the subject area of jewelry and silversmith art as well as study responsibility for the students. This includes also engagement in artistic research development. The professor shall follow the work of the students by individual conversations, surveys, criticism and artistic supervision. The professor is a part of the team that cooperates for, takes responsibility for and runs the development of the department.
The assignment is connected with own artistic development. A part of the work is the engagement in Konstfack’s collective work within e.g. boards and committees. The working hours are located at Konstfack in agreement with the head of the department.
Konstfack has an extensive exchange program with education programs all over the world. The work of the professor involves teaching and supervision of foreign students and external representation of the subject, the department and Konstfack. Konstfack offers a pedagogical program for professors and other teachers who do not have higher pedagogical education during their employment. The professor is expected to attend this program at the latest by the second year of the assignment.

Commencement
The assignment refers to 70-100% of a full time post for a maximum of five years with the option of extension without vacancy announcement to a total period of ten years. Duties to begin in August 2011 or earlier as per agreement.
