Ontario College of Art & Design seeks new Dean

The Dean of Art is responsible for the educational leadership, development and supervision of the Faculty of Art and the integration of the Faculty of Art into the larger strategic plan of the University. Working collaboratively and in close consultation with the Deans of the Faculties of Design and Liberal Studies and reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will promote effective management of the university’s academic programs, research and outreach, support its educational goals, and enrich university life.

The successful candidate will be a visionary educational leader, with a graduate degree in art, a significant record of professional or research activity in the field, and substantial teaching and administrative experience. Candidates will have a proven ability to develop and implement innovative curriculum in art and media art; an understanding of digital and analogue mediums; as well as strong knowledge of experiential studio learning, research practice in art, and current issues in art and education.

As an employment equity employer, OCAD encourages applications from women, Aboriginals, visible minorities, and people with disabilities.

The search committee will begin the review of applications in November 2007. Applications, including a letter of introduction, curriculum vitae, and five references (who will not be contacted without the consent of the candidate), should be forwarded, in confidence, to OCAD’s consultants:
