The Fashion Design department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago seeks a three-year full-time Visiting Artist to teach in the core undergraduate fashion program. The successful candidate has expertise in fashion design with a strong emphasis in pattern-making and construction, teaching experience, and the ability to work closely with students to help them realize their designs. Rank and salary commensurate with experience.
Applicants should demonstrate a desire to contribute to the creative, academic, and administrative leadership in the department, and the ability to place fashion in its wide, creative, cultural, and material context is essential.
Core teaching responsibilities include fashion design, pattern-making and construction. Applicants must have an active professional practice; teaching experience and knowledge of contemporary fashion theory are recommended.
