MA in Fine Art
MA in Design
(Pathways: MA Editorial Design, MA Fashion Design, MA Interior Design, MA Urban Design)
MaHKU, Graduate School for Visual Art and Design in Utrecht, The Netherlands, offers one-year Masters programs designed for an international body of students.
The Masters programs’ core is the novel field of artistic research supported by a cross-discipline debate.
MaHKU students are from various backgrounds such as Editorial Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Urban Design, and Fine Art, and come from all over the world and from all continents.
In an intensive seminar and workshop program with artists, designers, architects, curators, and theorists, students investigate a variety of research pathways which nonetheless all pertain to the field of artistic research. While exploring idiosyncratic ways of producing research questions and solving them, students not only seek to deepen their proficiency and to expand their knowledge both in visual and theoretical work. In their master research work, they also contribute to the bifurcation of the field of artistic research. The development and realization of MaHKU research trajectories create links with other disciplines and involves a close collaboration with a platform of art and design institutions.
The internationally published MaHKUzine- Journal of Artistic Research, forthcoming issue January 2007 – presents articles and research reports by guest lecturers outside the regular curriculum, by staff, and by outstanding students.
