MAHKU, Graduate School for Visual Art and Design in Utrecht, The Netherlands, offers a one-year interdisciplinary Masters program designed for an international body of students. MAHKU students are from various backgrounds such as Editorial Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Urban Interior Design, and Fine Art, and come from Asia, North America, South America, and Europe. Students seek to deepen their proficiency and to expand their knowledge of a topical, theoretical discourse of the visual culture.
In professional courses, a variety of designers, artists, and architects open up new vistas within their fields. The theory workshops follow the progression in the courses with readings in visual studies, philosophy, architecture and design texts. A number of interdisciplinary workshops bring students, professionals, and theorists together while eliciting exciting discussions and productions.
The internationally published MAHKUzine (first issue June 2006) will present articles and research reports by guest lecturers outside the regular curriculum, by staff, and by outstanding students. In Spring 2006, MAHKU will be working together with CASCO, Office for Art, Design, and Theory, and the Utrecht Design Biennial in a series of research workshops.
Please join MAHKU Graduate School for Visual Art and Design and work on enhancing your profession.
Our Masters degrees (MA Fine Art, MA Design) are internationally acknowledged and accredited by the Open University Validation Services in London (OUVS).
