As at October 1, 2006, the position of President will become vacant at the Offenbach Academy of Art and Design, a position on the German civil service W 3 salary scale. The President directs and represents the Academy and together with its other bodies promotes its independent development in keeping with contemporary requirements.
We are looking for an outstanding personality who is familiar with the fields and issues tackled by a college of design that functions at the interface of art, design, the media and scholarship. The candidate must be able to advance the Academy’s profile in research and teaching while also presenting it on the national and international stages. The ideal candidate will have proven management abilities in keeping at all levels with the new autonomy enjoyed by the Academy and should also be very well versed in PR work and in acquiring third-party funding. Likewise, the successful candidate should have experience in university politics.
Such persons can be elected president who are a graduate and, on the basis of several years in a responsible function in the worlds of culture, business or politics, give us cause to expect that he or she is capable of discharging the duties associated with the position. The appointment is for six years, and a president can be re-appointed. An application from a severely handicapped person who is as suitable as any other candidate will be preferentially treated.
