Professor of painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts

At the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts, a vacancy occurs for a professor of painting to be filled on October 1, 2005.

The vacancy must be filled by a visual artist with a significant artistic production. The appointee must be occupied with painting and/or a painting-related problematic, and it is a prerequisite that (s)he is on a demonstrably high level within contemporary art and has created an original image of him-/herself in the exhibition world.

It is an essential prerequisite that the appointee is able to create an over-all study situation for his/her painting school, guide the individual student as well as carry out the artistic production and research attached to the position.

The appointee must have demonstrated theoretical knowledge of the field of painting and/or have practical experience with art education on a high level.

The application must contain a satisfactory account of the applicant’s:

1.Views on art;

2.Artistic production;

3.Pedagogical qualifications.

4.Further it is expected that the applicant gives an account of his/her ideas of the education and its prospects, as well as of its daily planning.

A CV and a list of enclosed documentation, if any, must be enclosed in the application. Documentation may take the form of photos/dias of own works/projects, video, articles, publications etc. It is stressed that the expert selection committee who is to evaluate the applicants, shall only consider the written application and the enclosed documentation.

The position classified as grade 37 is to be filled for a fixed term of 6 years. The position is granted a fixed-term employment bonus to be determined through negotiations between the Ministry of Culture and the legitimate negotiating organization of the appointee. A further allowance may be granted through negotiations between the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts and the legitimate negotiating organization of the appointee.

Appointment is according to government order No 467 on the appointment of artistic/scientific staff at certain institutions of higher education under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, of May 27, 2003.

The professor attends to the administrative work of the school and participates in the work of both councils and committees as well as (s)he performs administrative duties in accordance with Ministry of Culture executive order No 497 of June 21, 1995.

Appointment is on a group contract basis, unless the appointee is already employed as a public servant. Application must be made to the Rector and sent to: The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts, Kongens Nytorv 1, PO Box 9014, DK-1022 Copenhagen K, Denmark, where it must be received no later than April 1, 2005, at 12 o’clock.

Attention is drawn to the fact that we expect enclosed material to be picked up later by the applicants, alternatively it will be returned by ordinary mail.

The Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools of Visual Arts is an institution of higher education under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture. It has the task of offering education, on an artistic and scientific basis, in painting, sculpture, graphic arts, media arts and bordering art forms until the highest level, as well as of performing activities of artistic development and carrying out scientific research in the visual arts.
