Assistant Professor: Painting/Drawing
Assistant Professor, tenure-track position starting August 2005. MFA or equivalent professional experience required. Seeking artist to teach painting and/or drawing at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants must be familiar with contemporary issues demonstrated by their work and a persuasive and current exhibition record. College level teaching experience (after Graduate School) is desirable. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The University of Tennessee is the state’s flagship land grant institution. It is classified as a Carnegie doctoral research extensive university with 20,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students. The School of Art is part of the College of Arts and Sciences. The school offers NASAD accredited programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts (majors in Art History and Studio Art); the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art; and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. The school’s graduate program offers a three-year Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, media arts, painting, printmaking and sculpture. The 27 full-time tenure-track faculty is responsible for over 500 undergraduate majors and 37 graduate students. In addition to an active visiting artist program, Painting/Drawing also offers a unique Artist-in-Residence program where an artist (usually from New York) is invited to teach and work for one semester at a time.
