The Department of Design at Goldsmiths, University of London, announces the opening of its new MA Design: Expanded Practice programme, a 15 month, post-disciplinary programme for practitioners who want to challenge our understanding of design, push its boundaries, and explore its emerging practices and applications. On this MA we work with you to transform your practice as a creative, critical and social undertaking.
Department of DesignDepartment of DesignGoldsmiths, University of LondonGoldsmiths, University of LondonMA Design: Expanded PracticeMA Design: Expanded PracticeYou will choose to situate yourself in one of our six thematic Studios, each with a distinct identity:
–Cities & Urbanism
–Communication & Experience
–Fashions & Embodiment
–Innovation & Service
–Interaction & Technology
–Participation & Politics
The Studios are spaces where we encourage you to materially experiment, question your practice, evolve new design languages and engage with contemporary discourses, with the aims of tackling new contexts of consumption, production and possibility. Learning will centre on projects, which you will investigate alongside fellow students from all of the thematic studios, design staff and visiting experts.
This programme also includes the Extended Study module undertaken in a professional setting such as work placement, field research, summer school or conference. This will support the development of your own body of work and extend your professional network, whilst allowing you to reconsider and reframe your own professional practice.
Designers and non-designers are accepted on the programme. Whatever your background or previous degree we expect you to examine, develop and expand your own practice.
