IDSVA is proud to announce that Professor Curlee Holton will be awarded an IDSVA Honorary Doctorate in Art and Philosophy at this year’s annual commencement at the Morgan Library &  Museum in New York City.

Long known as a leading Master Printmaker, Professor Holton has exhibited his work throughout the world, and his paintings, drawings, and prints are held by major museums and collections in the US and abroad. His most recent solo exhibition, Journey: The Artistry of Curlee Raven Holton, was held at the University of Maryland University College.

In addition to his lifelong service as a teacher and a mentor, Holton has served as the David M. and Linda Roth Professor of Art and founding director of the Experimental Printmaking Institute at Lafayette College. In 2014 he was appointed director of the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at University of Maryland, College Park.

A gifted artist and philosopher, Professor Holton has devoted his life to international leadership through visual representation, education, and cultural exchange. His work has touched the lives of many and changed the way we see the world.
