WALKS ACADEMY 2018

Introduction
The MAGASIN des Horizons has the pleasure of organizing an interdisciplinary event in the Grenoble area for the year 2018: the WALKS ACADEMY. The present call to walking reflects our commitment to fostering artistic creation and ensuring favorable conditions for a close encounter between artists, the Alpine region, and the local population.

There are as many ways of walking as there are walkers. The WALKS ACADEMY intends to explore them collectively and individually, roaming and wandering, in meditation and activism: We thus issue a call to walking!

A call for ideas about walking: Whether you are an explorer, a pilgrim, a migrant, or you walk for political, poetic, or sports-related reasons!

Walks may take all possible and imaginable forms:
–Informed by protest, “sensibility,” or poetry
–Downtown, in the suburbs or in the wild
–With shoes or barefoot, clothed or naked
–Slow walks, blind walks, nocturnal, athletic, political walks, pride marches, meditative, Afghan walking, to get lost, etc.
–Carnivals, philosophical walks, demonstrations, activist marches, silent walks, collective wandering…

Conditions of participation
No prerequisites.
This call is open to poets, writers, musicians, choreographiers, visual artists, illustrators, video artists, filmmakers, photographers, designers, stage directors, autodidacts, activists, dreamers… of all ages and from all walks of life.

Research residency conditions
Research scholarship and allowances within the limits of the budget set depending on the project. Every walk will be object to remuneration.

Applications
–A brief outline of the walk(s) (max. 1 page in A4 format).
–An artist’s portfolio or website featuring the steps and approaches, works, previous projects, conferences, performances, pieces, actions, texts, images, etc.

The pdf file must be in A4 fromat and be limited to 20 pages. The size of the file may not exceed 8Mb.

Applications submitted past the cut-off date will not be taken into consideration.
The results will be announced on December 15 at 3:15PM and the names of selected participants will be posted on the website: www.magasin-cnac.org.
