Bard Graduate Center is a graduate research institute in New York City dedicated to studying the cultural history of the material world. Our two-year MA program in decorative arts, design history, and material culture offers a broad exploration of history through its material traces. Our faculty draw on methodologies and approaches from art and design history, economic and cultural history, philosophy, anthropology, and archaeology, and we encourage students from diverse academic majors, including art history, anthropology, English literature, and museum studies to apply. Bard Graduate Center alumni go on to pursue a range of academic and professional careers as scholars, curators, and museum professionals, and many pursue further study in highly competitive doctoral programs.

Applications for fall 2018 admission to the MA program are due Friday, January 5, 2018. Find application information here.
