NABA Visual Arts Department is a laboratory based on critical studies and cultural production that puts experimental methodology into action. Art becomes the center of education both as a language and a tool that allows the creation of stimulating dialogue between multifaceted practices such as visual arts, publishing, graphic design, editing, curatorial studies, critical studies, creative writing, public art, theatre and performing arts. NABA students are able to successfully enter the complex art system and job market, as well-trained young professionals able to work in the many realms of the art field, from museums and foundations to private galleries and auction houses, from collections to artists’s studios and archives, from publishing houses and magazines to photo agencies.

Since 2004, faculty and visiting professors have included: John Akomfrah, Marc Augé, Nanni Balestrini, Carlos Basualdo, Ute Meta Bauer, Erick Beltran, Daniel Birnbaum, Roger M. NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti is an education academy focusing on arts and design: it is the largest private academy in Italy, and the first one to have been recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), back in 1980. The academy was founded in Milan in 1980 upon the private initiative of Ausonio Zappa, Guido Ballo and Gianni Colombo aiming to challenge the rigid academic tradition and introduce visions and languages that are closer to contemporary artistic practices and to the system of arts and creative professions. NABA was selected by Frame and included in the Masterclass Frame Guide to the 30 World’s Leading Graduate Design, Architecture and Fashion Schools, as well as by Domus Magazine as one of Europe’s Top 100 schools of Architecture and Design.
