The Emerging Curators Retreat is the first of its kind at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. The program aims to attract emerging, talented, and diverse individuals looking to advance their artistic and curatorial skills. Through a series of talks, conversations, and presentations with professional curators, artists, and thinkers, and site visits to museums, galleries, studios, and alternative spaces, participants will be able to engage with the local art community and advance their careers as curators. This retreat will focus specifically on Los Angeles’ local art scene. Conversations will be facilitated by the College’s staff and other professional curators.

The program will take place from June 11 through June 23, 2018, at Otis College of Art and Design. All applications are due by January 31, 2018. There is a 20 USD application fee; participants must apply by the priority deadline, January 15, 2018, to be considered for fellowships. The fee to attend the program is 2,500 USD, which includes room and board. Notifications will be sent out via email in early March.

Visiting curators and guests include Bruce W. Ferguson, Hamza Walker, Jamillah James, Kate McNamara, and Lauren Mackler.
