At a time when architecture is recognised as a cornerstone of Portuguese culture, Lisbon’s Garagem Sul enhances the Centro Cultural de Belém’s longstanding programme of architectural exhibitions, lectures, debates and publications. Housed in a former parking garage, Garagem Sul’s large space offers a unique atmosphere for the presentation of architectural works and ideas. Lectures from the Garage seeks to present the wide range of different positions through which architects are currently redefining their role in society, having the courage to research and explore less obvious areas of architecture in order to find appropriate ways for building our world.

The lecture series runs parallel to the exhibitions program, currently displaying Building Stories, showcasing works from De Vylder Vinck Taillieu, Maio and Ricardo Bak Gordon, an experiment on how architecture is produced and built. The exhibition was curated by Rodrigo da Costa Lima and Amélia Brandão Costa to create a landscape as a building site in order to transcend the limits of the museum space and focus on architecture as a discipline.
