Centro Cultural de Belém—CCB—first opened its doors in 1993, bringing life to a building designed by Vittorio Gregotti and Risco. 25 years later, CCB has become one of the most relevant cultural venues in Lisbon, known for its music, dance, theatre and literature programs. Its Garagem Sul, who since 2012 runs an architecture program, will celebrate this anniversary with an exhibition dedicated to the Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti, and his long and overreaching architectural life. The exhibition presents a narrative of his wide-ranging activities and those conducted by his studio, spanning more than six decades of projects both in Italy and abroad. The title of the retrospective establishes an ideal continuity and a form of mirroring with Il territorio dell’architetuttura—the programmatic title of his first book published in 1966, The Territory of Architecture—a meeting place for contributions from other experiences and disciplines, in which the term territory conveys the meaning of the overall physical and conceptual material for architecture itself.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a visits program recalling the presence of Italian architects in Lisbon, Italianos em Lisboa.

About Garagem Sul
At a time when architecture is recognised as a cornerstone of Portuguese culture, Lisbon’s Garagem Sul enhances the Centro Cultural de Belém’s longstanding programme of architectural exhibitions, lectures, debates and publications. Housed in a former parking garage, Garagem Sul’s large space offers a unique atmosphere for the presentation of architectural works and ideas.
