Norman Foster Foundation Workshop 2018—Archives

The Norman Foster Foundation Archives Workshop will take place on March 1–2, 2018, with the support of Libnova.
“It is significant that the Archive is at the heart of the Norman Foster Foundation whose objectives include fostering ideas and cross-disciplinary research to help new generations anticipate the future,” states workshop mentor Margarita Suárez. “The documentation contained in architectural, engineering and landscape archives is a primary source for the scientific study of these disciplines and an important part of their collective heritage. But it also establishes an important legacy, providing a memory of the city, a testimony of the professionals whose work it documents—and the procedures used—and as a learning point and inspiration for students of these disciplines.”
How should we preserve the information? This workshop aims to promote the preservation of this type of fonds, the proper management of its documentation and the adequate dissemination of its content, in order to make archival information truly accessible.

As a way to disseminate knowledge and ideas, a selection of lectures will be recorded and documented for publication in series of annual books published by the Norman Foster Foundation. During the course of the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the Norman Foster Foundation’s archive and research projects.
