Ever since graduating from the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm in 1998, Alexander Lervik (b. 1972) has been prolific, to say the least. Humour, innovation, passion, rebellion and intensity. With a conceptual approach, new inventions and unexpected collaborations, Alexander Lervik has developed a unique design language. His focus is on creating products that stand out, but still remain functional, of course. However, form does not always follow function.

Alexander Lervik is a true entrepreneur with an inventor’s imagination and persistence. Often, ideas arise from experimental play with materials, or from questions of an existential nature, such as “How do you create a lamp that spreads darkness?” Darkness, incidentally, is a state that Alexander Lervik seeks to avoid. As a teenager, he began to experience anxiety caused by the long Nordic winters, making everyday life complicated, to say the least. But over the years, Alexander Lervik has learnt to cope with the darkness, turning it into something positive. His fascination for creating light to dispel darkness is hardly a coincidence.

The exhibition “Being Alexander Lervik, designer” is a retrospective covering more than two decades. Step into Alexander Lervik’s world, where you will find everything from bird’s nests and lifts, to conference furniture, cutlery and dark light.
