For its 51st edition from April 26 to 29, 2017, the “Internationale Kunstmarkt” restructures the sections for young and emerging art (Hall 11.3) and provides a central platform for young galleries with the new concept NEUMARKT.

The new format NEUMARKT gives young galleries, who are under ten years old, the opportunity of presenting themselves on three different sized stands. With NEUMARKT, young galleries starting in 2017 will have the additional choice of presenting singular artists presentations. The sector formerly known as New Contemporaries for young galleries presenting group presentations and the sector Collaborations will be integrated into one central platform occupying the entire upper level hall 11.3 at the Art Cologne 2017.
NEUMARKT

Small stand (20 sq. meters): exclusively for the presentation of singular artists by galleries under ten years old
Medium stand (30 sq. meters): for the presentation of two or three artists by galleries under ten years old
Large stand (40 sq. meters): for joint gallery presentations of singular artists or curated presentations of multiple artists and galleries of all generations

The new singular artist presentation booths at NEUMARKT provide young galleries a cost-effective and focused platform and reduce the overall risk young galleries face today, according to director Daniel Hug. In so doing, NEUMARKT will continue the long tradition of showing progressive art at the Internationaler Kunstmarkt.

Next year, Art Cologne is opening its doors a day earlier than in the past, beginning with the AXA Art Preview and the vernissage on Tuesday, April 25—the trade fair is open to the public from Wednesday, April 26 to Saturday, April 29.

The application process for the 51st Art Cologne 2017 has started. The application deadline for established galleries is on Thursday, September 15 and for NEUMARKT on Tuesday, October 25. The application process takes place exclusively online.
