Paraguay exists elsewhere. An offshoot from the Paris-based collectively-run project space castillo/corrales (2007–15), Paraguay is a non-profit organization established in Paris in 2016 devoted to developing a new vocabulary of words and actions through a program of publications, talks, exhibitions and workshops.
Paraguay is happy to announce the release of the book Soleil politique and its presentation this July in Paris, Athens, and Vienna.
Conceived by curator Pierre-Bal Blanc, in dialogue with graphic designers Vier5 and Paraguay, the book Soleil politique dwells on the exhibition that he organized at Museion Bolzano in 2014, examining its starting points in the readings of a group of thinkers and artists, its methodology—inspired by the musical compositions of Cornelius Cardew—and some of the consequences and afterthoughts the exhibition provoked.
In this series of presentations of the book Soleil politique, Pierre Bal-Blanc, the former director of CAC Bretigny and now a member of the curatorial team of documenta14, will talk about how an exhibition can rub with the dominant logic of museums and their use of authority in shaping cultural discourse.
On the heels of this new publication, Paraguay is releasing Puro Ódio, the latest installment of French artists Hendrik Hegray and Jonas Delaborde’s collaborative project Nazi Knife. Once a xeroxed self-publication at the crossroads of queer iconography, Outsider and Conceptual Art, Nazi Knife reaches with its 10th issue yet a higher point in its unclassifiable aesthetics.
And also: The Riffs and the Forrest, a new instalment of the essay series “The Social Life of the Record.” In this text, art critic Staffan Boije af Gennäs tells the story of the sounds that paved the way for Black Metal in the early 1990s.
Coming out this Fall: Incorporated!, the two-volume catalogue of the Biennial of Contemporary Art Les Ateliers de Rennes, curated by François Piron; Contre Histoire de la Séparation, an artist’s book by Etienne Chambaud and Vincent Normand; and Guy de Cointet, Complete Theater, a reference book on the writings of the late artist and playwright Guy de Cointet.
