Bidoun Projects presents a unique take on the charity auction.

Hal Foster‘s breath mints, Lawrence Weiner‘s gold tooth, Cindy Sherman‘s eyeliner, Tala Madani‘s body lotion, Wade Guyton‘s Nikes, Jeremy Deller‘s iPod, Tony Shafrazi‘s pain killers, Anicka Yi‘s brain, Julie Mehretu‘s golf ball, Hans Ulrich Obrist‘s passport, Bjarne Melgaard‘s Christmas card from a serial killer, Laura Owens‘s bus pass, Shirin Neshat‘s kohl, Darren Bader‘s junk mail, an ongoing poster series by Taryn Simon, and much more.

At Frieze New York this month, the not-for-profit publishing and curatorial initiative Bidoun dug through the art world’s trash to recover a trove of motley memorabilia: insignificant objects touched by some of the most significant hands of our time.

Inspired by the celebrity collectibles market, where a lock of Justin Bieber’s hair once sold at auction for 40,668 USD, Bidoun proposes to extend this logic to the realm of contemporary art.

Other relics include Yto Barrada‘s third grade report card, a 1638 edition of Anatomy of Melancholy defaced by amateur artist cum Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk, and a Caution: Red Hot Lover doll once owned by the late Iranian modernist Bahman Mohasses.

The auction ends at 3pm EST on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

For more information, visit the online auction site, where you can also make your bid.

Bidoun is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization.
