This 1978 Fender Precision Bass was played by artist Ian Wallace in the band UJ3RK5 alongside band members Kitty Byrne, Rodney Graham, Colin Griffiths, Danice MacLeod, Frank Ramirez, Jeff Wall, and David Wisdom. The bass was donated by the artist and will be sold by auction, along with artworks by over 30 local and international artists to support the purchase of the Or Gallery’s new Vancouver International Residency/Project Space.

The Residency/Project Space will be a shared resource for contemporary visual art organizations, allowing for extended visits to Vancouver by international artists, curators, and writers. The space will include a small apartment with adjacent studio and presentation space.

The Or Gallery (est. 1983) is an artist-run contemporary art centre committed to exhibiting work by local, national, and international artists whose art practice is of a critical, conceptual and/or interdisciplinary nature. The Or Gallery has a long record of international projects and partnerships, and in 2010 established Or Gallery Berlin, the first international satellite space by a Canadian non-profit art gallery. We hope to continue and strengthen our international conversations through the Residency/Project Space.
