Spike Issue 32 magazine launch in Basel
Dear readers,
We’re happy to announce that we’ll be hosting a launch party in honour of our summer issue at Kunsthalle Basel on Wednesday, 13 June, starting at 6pm (followed by the opening of the exhibition by Paul Sietsema at 7pm). You’ll be able to pick up a copy of the magazine, see a performative intervention by gallerist and writer Jonas Žakaitis, and have a drink designed by curator Olivia Shao. Afterwards, the party will continue at Lady Bar.
The new issue features an interview with Roe Ethridge by Fionn Meade, a text by John Beeson on recent performance-related works, a portrait of Austrian-born video artist Ursula Mayer written by Filipa Ramos, and an essay on Jimmie Durham by Jonas Žakaitis.
In the fifth part of our series exploring multiple roles in the art world, Markus Miessen pleads for the “incompetent master.”
Also, curator Charles Esche writes about a work that has influenced him—the Raum der Gegenwart (1930/2009) by László Moholy-Nagy.
