Bonhams presents original graphic works by artist and illustrator R. Crumb and highlights from the Bonhams and Butterfields spring sales of Modern and Contemporary Art and Art Made in California, the inaugural sale held in Los Angeles and San Francisco May 22, 2007. Timed to coincide with early spring art fairs including The Armory Show, the preview is held at Bonhams New York headquarters located at 595 Madison Avenue, New York.
Included in the preview of works by R. Crumb are artworks from stories published in Zap Comics, Snoid Comics and The Peoples Comics in the late 1960’s and other Crumb works from the collection of the famed French collector, Didier Moiselet.
Featured art works previewed for the Modern and Contemporary sale include selections from artists Gustave Loiseau, Andre Lanskoy, Maria Helena Viera da Silva, Martial Raysse, Victor Vasarely, Tom Sachs, Judith Rothschild, Joseph Kosuth and Andy Warhol among other 20th Century icons.
Selections from the Made in California sale include: Manuel Neri, Nathan Oliveira, Chris Burden, Bruce Nauman, and Douglas Huebler.
