An art project by Sam Auinger, Georg Spehr and Hannes Strobl.

The A100 runs right through Berlin and connects the districts of Neukölln, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Mitte in a southwest arc. To the east towards Treptow, another section is under construction. Originally planned as a motorway ring road, the first section was built in 1958 in the emerging zeitgeist of the "car-friendly modern city."

Today, the A100 is not only a space-consuming infrastructure system, but also a city-forming force with a large physical, media and political presence. It generates a pulse for urban life and shapes Berlin's identity as a symbol of progress, self-staging and representation as well as a hate object, disruptive factor and art space.

The exhibition at CLB Berlin takes a look at the cultural-historical, urbanistic and political aspects of the A100. Its design with its central sound installation is committed to the audio dimension of the city motorway, which can be experienced today, and thus becomes part of a current urban planning and mobility discussion. In the accompanying talks, sound walks and screenings, questions about the present and future of the Stadtautobahn are discussed critically.
