EIDOS Foundation is pleased to announce the line-up for UNFINISHED, taking place September 27–30, 2018 at the National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest.

UNFINISHED is delighted to open this year’s festival with a talk by performance artist Tehching Hsieh, known internationally for his radical One Year Performances started in New York in the late 1970s. His seminal One Year Performance 1980-1981 (Time Clock Piece) in which he punched a clock every hour for an entire year will notably be displayed in the Unknowing Knowns | Knowing Unknowns exhibition.

Unknowing Knowns | Knowing Unknowns is an exhibition provoked by our current times’ relationship to knowledge. The artworks it brings together demonstrate an array of creative strategies employed by artists from all across the world to bridge the voids of knowledge fragmentation and breach the walls of the art world’s tendency for hermeticity. Their work explores the mechanisms of active knowledge transfer between artists and viewers in the context of UNFINISHED and beyond, shifting focus from new knowledge creation toward recontextualizing, reinterpreting, and bridging gaps. The range of work exhibited aims to expand everyone’s understanding of knowledge by moving from understanding knowledge as information and data toward a more open-ended, ongoing process of empathy, emotional intelligence, sensorial perception and, ultimately, action.

Curated by Ramona Todoca, Unknowing Knowns | Knowing Unknowns includes works, performances, public projects and site-specific installations by Josh Begley (USA), Kitra Cahana (Canada), Capucine Gros (France), Cosmin Haias (Romania), Andrew Herzog (USA), Tehching Hsieh (Taiwan / USA), Alfredo Jaar (Chile / USA), Admire Kamudzengerere (Zimbabwe), Rachel Monosov (Russia / Israel), Numen/For Use (Austria), Daniela Pălimariu (Romania), Luca Zamoc (Italy), Oana Vainer (Romania / Germany),  and Jaro Varga (Slovakia / Czech Republic).  The festival will also host additional site-specific interventions by Julien Britnic + Vlad Tenu (Romania) and the art collective SYMPOSIUM (Romania) as well as a screening of The Happy Film by Stefan Sagmeister.

Part festival, part talks, part exhibition, part undefined, UNFINISHED18 is an experience in constant evolution. It brings together innovators, artists, visionaries, entrepreneurs and change-makers across all disciplines to share work, research and ideas. The name UNFINISHED reflects its core belief: that making the world a more conscious place is a continuous work in progress and that we should never stop growing and questioning ourselves.

This year, UNFINISHED continues to build a community through a vibrant and unique 4-day program of talks, keynotes, discussions, panels, art, music, poetry, performances, tours, screenings, workshops and daily morning wellness sessions.
