At our five-year anniversary mark, we are very pleased to announce the rest of our 2018 seminar lineup, as well as other developments at The New Centre for Research & Practice.

We have officially moved to Seattle, Washington, USA, where we have begun working with Shunpike, an arts-oriented, non-profit fiscal sponsor, enabling us to receive 100% tax-deductible donations for the first time. To make a donation, please visit our Shunpike page.  Your generosity will enable us to offer scholarships to our Certificate Students. We are also in the process of registering as a non-profit educational institution in the European Union to mirror our US activities in Europe.

In other news, Charles Mudede, the Associate Editor of Seattle’s weekly paper The Stranger and a long-time contributor to e-flux will join us as an instructor of The New Centre. The list of this years’ instructors also includes Lawrence Abu Hamdan (Beirut), Jason Adams (Seattle), ANON / Alexandra Hedako Mason (New York), Elie Ayache (Paris), Adam Berg (Los Angeles), Jaya Klara Brekke (London), Hossein Derakhshan (Boston), Stefan Heidenreich (Berlin), Yuk Hui (Berlin), Peli Grietzer (Berlin), Katerina Kolozova (Skopje), Jason LaRiviere (New York), Davor Löffler (Berlin), Reza Negarestani (New Haven), Daniel Sacilotto (Los Angeles), Samuel Sackeroff (New York), Mohammad Salemy (Berlin), Anne Francois-Schmid (Paris), Aaron Schuster (New York), Moses Serubiri (Kampala), Tiziana Terranova (Naples). In addition to joining our Board of Directors, Reza Negerastani is now also the Programmer of the Certificate Program in Critical Philosophy.

To expand the scope of our activities, we are now accepting seminar proposals from scholars, thinkers, artists and other art professionals from around the world. If you are interested in teaching at The New Centre, please send your proposals alongside your CV to organizers [at]

The New Centre now offers a new public services section in our website, showcasing the first session of nearly every seminar we’ve offered since our beginning, as well as the video archives of our public live-streamed events, roundtables, and reading groups.

Beyond individual Memberships and Friendships, we are also offering Institutional Memberships, such as that recently acquired by the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. To find out more about Institutional Memberships, please contact registrar [at]

The New Centre’s one-on-one theoretical and practical consultations with our instructors have been widely successful over the course of the past year, and we will continue to expand the offerings in this regard on either a mentoring or tutoring basis. For more information, please visit our website.

Finally, this year, The New Centre has been invited to partner with the Digital Earth, a new online platform for artists’ residencies from Asia and Africa based in the Netherlands, designing seminars for those who are selected to participate in the inaugural edition of the program. For more information, please visit the Digital Earth website

The year 2018 has seen a continued upsurge of interest in our Certificate Programs and Seminars with many new Members, Researchers, and Certificate Students joining the institution. We would like to thank all of our supporters and Friends, without whom we would not have been able to upgrade and expand our activities.

Join us today by becoming a Member, a Friend, or by enrolling in one of our Certificate Programs. To apply for our Certificate Programs, please visit our website. All of our seminars are conducted online via Google+ Hangouts, enabling participants to engage with instructors from anywhere in the world. Our Students and Researchers automatically become Members of The New Centre and thus receive all benefits, including access to our Re:search Groups, Writing Centre, Member Symposia, Reading Groups, and Roundtables, as well as opportunities to publish their research on the &&& Platform and Journal, and access to our entire 2014–18 video archive of over 500 hours of video recordings.
