California College of the Arts invites applications for the following ranked faculty positions. We seek candidates who can cultivate an equitable scholarly environment and curriculum within an increasingly international student body and, at the undergraduate level, a large demographic of first generation college students. Candidates should have a proven record of teaching and leading in a culturally competent manner with a global perspective, working with diverse groups, and fostering an understanding of and respect for diverse cultural practices.

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Fashion Design Program
The Fashion Design Program seeks a visionary educator-practitioner who is deeply connected to contemporary and emerging practices through their research-oriented practice. The successful candidate will have an expansive notion of fashion design, and be a hybrid creative with a desire to foster interdisciplinary linkages between fashion design and other fields such as interaction design, social practice, and industrial design. Applicants with experience as both a fashion design professional and an educator are highly encouraged to apply.
Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Film Program
We are seeking a visionary candidate with a growing career as a film/video filmmaker/artist to teach in both the graduate and undergraduate film programs at CCA. The candidate should demonstrate a vital creative practice and commitment to teaching in a Film program within an art school environment and curriculum. The candidate must have experience with hands-on approaches to teaching production techniques as an integrated part of a film program. In addition to an active practice as a filmmaker, candidate should have experience in areas of film production such as screenwriting, producing, cinematography, sound design, and related practices.
Chair, Open Rank Faculty Position, Graduate Interaction Design Program
The incoming Chair will envision the next phase of this growing program by advancing the academic vision of the program and providing administrative rigor towards establishing it as the pre-eminent program of its kind globally. The Chair will work with the Dean of Design and fellow faculty leaders across the college to contribute to the School’s mission to advance art and design education. This is an open-rank, full-time faculty position with a desired start date of June 3, 2019.
Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Photography Program
The successful candidate will demonstrate a vibrant emerging art practice and professional activity, with evidence of increasing stature within national or international artistic dialogues. Candidates should be versed in a wide range of issues affecting contemporary art practice and possess a strong desire to advance the discourse of art and photography in a broad cultural and educational context.
Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Visual Studies Program
The Visual Studies Program seeks candidates specializing in modern and contemporary art history and theory with emphasis on cultural and global perspectives. We welcome applicants who approach the arts through the lens of visual and cultural studies, race theory, postcolonial studies, or with specialization related to indigenous cultures, US artists of color, African diasporas, Caribbean, or Central America.
