The Master of Art and Public Space is a two-year Master program running since 2014 at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. It is a trans disciplinary study program, recruiting students from various backgrounds. The study is situated at the crossroads where artistic practices intersect with different contemporary theories. The program focuses on how art and artistic practices operate in, use and relate to, the public sphere, beyond the conventional art institutions.

At the core of the program is the development of art projects, employing qualitative research methods and methodologies, analyzing and exploring art in the context of different publics, social structures and politics of space. The study program provides practical and theoretical insights into art as a diverse and complex area and is intended to contribute to innovative approaches to artistic research and development within the area of art and public sphere.
