The Städelschule is seeking to hire a full-time professor to head the Film Class starting in the winter semester of 2019/20.
The successful candidate should be an outstanding artist with an international profile, working at the forefront of contemporary art practice and discourse. The candidate must bring expertise in both practical and theoretical approaches to filmmaking – its techniques, materials, concepts, and language, in addition to familiarity with newer media, including but not limited to video and video installation, and/or animation, augmented and virtual reality, or other emerging technologies.
Furthermore, the successful candidate must have educational experience as they will take responsibility for the Film Class, building its curriculum and shaping its development within the context of the Städelschule. This candidate must also be an enthusiastic colleague, facilitating links and partnerships within the school, as well as nationally and internationally.
