MA Digital Arts
Housed within the University of Greenwich’s new state of the art Stockwell Street building, students will have access to cutting edge equipment, new digital technologies, and bespoke workshop areas for film, sound, photography, and sculptural/3D work. The degree seeks to prepare students for engagement with increasingly dynamic digital and creative arts sectors, and to facilitate creative projects that foreground the importance of practice-based research, expertise and experimentation. The programme includes courses consisting of research-led teaching that encourages students to strive towards producing innovative work that exemplifies the contemporary Digital Art fields. As the field of Digital Art is ever evolving and redefining itself, applicants from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply. These include, but are not limited to, Digital Arts, Fine Arts, Sound Design, Film, Television, VFX, Animation, Performance, Graphic Design and Media and Communications. The structure of the programme focuses on independent and experimental practice guided by tutor led modules in Expanded Artforms, Research Methodologies, Aesthetics and Practice, and a Major Project that will take the form of an exhibition in September 2020. Led by a staff of professional practicing artists and published academic scholars, the course is also supplemented with visiting artists, an open lecture series, and cross overs with other Masters programmes including Architecture and Film. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to take part in professional projects that engage students with a public facing profile. Successful applicants will need to apply with a portfolio of relevant work from their subject area, and attend an interview to discuss their suitability for the course.
