Konstfack is now looking for a professor in Interior Architecture. Konstfack offers two interior architecture courses, both on artistic grounds: Interior Architecture & Furniture Design (Bachelor level) and Spatial Design (Master level). The professor of Interior Architecture has the overall responsibility for artistic and pedagogical leadership within interior architecture/spatial design, i.e. setting goals, organising, following up on, and administering operations in cooperation with teaching teams, programme councils, and the head of department. As artistic leader, the professor is expected to act as a unifying person for students and teachers.

The professor participates in admissions and examinations, teaches, and supports students’ development through individual talks, reviews, critiques and supervision. On the master’s programme all teaching, supervision and examination is in English.

As a professor, you work with the other teachers to develop the subject in relation to contemporary and future challenges. This includes discussing how the education can formulate relevant questions around contemporaries issues, how ideas about future social changes in our shared spaces and built environment can be explored and designed, and how our practices can be reassessed and developed to meet future changes. The professor is expected to contribute to developing Konstfack’s research environment and ensure that research is conducted in the field of interior architecture.

Applicants should therefore have a vision regarding the development of spatial design with regard to both material and immaterial practices, and a clear vision of how issues surrounding ethics, norms, sustainability, contextual exploration and exploratory design processes are integrated into the education.

The professor’s tasks include:
–overall artistic and pedagogical responsibility for the development of the subject
–contributing to research within the subject field
–acting as the chair of the Programme council for interior architecture and furniture design
–leading the development work in cooperation with teachers, students, programme councils and the head of department
–organisational responsibility for the master’s programme, including educational planning and teaching
–teaching and supervision, primarily at master’s level
–participating in Konstfack and the department’s joint work

The position includes individual research/development work and duties within Konstfack’s councils and boards. The work is to be carried out at Konstfack in agreement with professors and the head of department.

The position
The position is part-time (70 per cent) and for a maximum fixed term of five years. There is the possibility to renew the position for an additional five years. We strive for an equal workplace with equal rights, responsibilities and possibilities for all employees. Employment begins as soon as possible.

Information
Additional information about the position of professor is provided by Head of Department Marie-Louise Bowallius. ST and SACO can be reached via Konstfack’s switchboard: T +46 (0)8 4504100.
