Fondation Giacometti, Paris seeks to appoint a Director of Collection and International Programme. This is a new role, with responsibility for leading the curatorial, conservation and research team working under the direction of Catherine Grenier, the Director, to develop the influence of Alberto Giacometti through exhibitions, publications and research.
Fondation Giacometti, Paris was established in 2003 to promote, disseminate, preserve and protect the works of Alberto Giacometti. Holding the largest collection of Giacometti’s works, the Foundation fosters research about Alberto Giacometti’s work and influences and runs a vibrant national and international programme of exhibitions. It has also established the Giacometti Institute which is the reference point for Giacometti’s work and an art history centre dedicated to exhibitions, research and pedagogy.
The new Director will contribute to enhancing the knowledge and understanding of the influence of Alberto Giacometti by curating temporary or permanent exhibitions, designing and monitoring publications and participating in symposia, seminars and training activities. They will manage to the highest professional standards the work of the Collection team in relation to research, collection management, conservation and documentation of all works and objects. They will contribute to the conduct and development of the Foundation’s research policy and will play their part in maintaining and developing relations with the Foundation’s institutional and associate partners.
In the new Director of Collection and International Programme, Fondation Giacometti seeks an experienced senior curator with a specific interest and research record within the field of modern art. An art historian with relevant post-graduate qualifications, the new Director will be able to demonstrate their ability to lead, manage and develop a team, to manage resources and to be strategic. They will have an international reputation and network and will be able to speak and write in French and in English.
