The Summer Studio Program at Virginia Commonwealth University is a 7-week immersive program for artists interested in developing work in a dynamic and supportive environment. Each summer the departments of Painting + Printmaking and Sculpture + Extended Media combine facilities and faculty to offer this cross-disciplinary opportunity. This program combines theory and practice through tutorials, seminars, and critiques lead by two full time faculty and a dynamic roster of visiting artists and critics. The experience fosters productive interaction and a concentrated period of intellectual and artistic growth. The Summer Studio Program at VCU is a proven stepping-stone for those interested in applying to the top national and international graduate schools. Our studios are exceptional, our faculty are generous, and the possibilities are wide open.

Core Faculty: Ryan Lucero, Sara Stern

Visiting artists and curators:  Cara Benedetto, Caitlin Cherry, Lily Cox-Richard, Michael Demps, Mary Eisendrath, Amber Esseiva, Abigail Lucien, and Noah Simblist.
