Join us in our 5th anniversary
The 5th edition of Barcelona Gallery Weekend has a wide-ranging programme in 27 contemporary and avant-garde art galleries. As a parallel programme, the event features a set of artistic interventions at public venues Compositions, and Scales, an exhibition at Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Vicens. In addition, Artévete will keep bringing closer to the public the experience of acquiring art through visits and meetings and BGW will offer guided tours and special activities at the participating galleries for professionals and general audience.

Compositions

Curated by Juan Canela, Compositions will gather five site-specific interventions by artists represented by the participating galleries in public places of Barcelona, complementing the general exhibitions programme beyond the white cube. Compositions puts the spotlight on discovering or revisiting public spaces of Barcelona through the conjunction of contemporary artistic language, architecture and urbanism.

Scales
In collaboration with Casa Vicens, BGW presents Scales, a selection of pieces by six artists represented by some of the participating galleries: the artworks by Jean Denant, Marria Pratts, Francesco Arena, Jordi Mitjà, Vanesa Muñoz and Marc Larré will dialogue with different chambers of Gaudi’s house from October 10 to November 10.

ARCO GalleryWalk
As in previous editions, BGW benefits from the collaboration of Fundación ARCO in order to offer free guided tours to the participating galleries and venues. The aim is to support the approach between audience and artists and establish a relationship with the galleries involved in the event.

Artévete
Born during BGW2018 with the aim of stimulating the art market, Artévete will keep bringing the public closer to the experience of acquiring artworks through a programme of meetings and guided visits to private collections.

Acquisitions Programme
For third consecutive year, BGW presents an Acquisition Programme intended for foundations and private companies that commit to incorporate to their collections works exhibited at the participating galleries.

The institutional and corporate acquisitions confirmed for the forthcoming edition are: Fundació Vila Casas, La Kole, La Place, Sir. Víctor and Utopicus.
