With over 2100 bachelor and master students, Zurich University of the Arts is one of Europe’s largest arts and design universities. ZHdK offers degree and research programmes in design, film, fine arts, music, dance, theatre, transdisciplinary studies and art education.

The Department of Art and Media is now inviting applications for the following vacancy in its Bachelor of Fine Arts:

Lecturer in “Body and Language in Contemporary Art” (50%)

The post is available from the spring semester 2020 (or by arrangement). We are seeking an artist experienced in the thematic area of “body and language” within the field of contemporary art. The teaching load for this position is 50%. The appointee will also be expected to perform various duties and responsiblities within the University’s self-management scheme.

-Outstanding and independent artistic work with international exhibition activities
-Teaching experience
-Willingness to contribute to further developing ZHdK as an arts university
-Strengthening ZHdK’s national and international reputation
-Readiness for innovative teaching (including co-teaching)

Our dynamic working atmosphere is well suited to developing transdisciplinary research and service projects alongside one’s teaching duties and to pursuing such ventures both within the University and in conjunction with universities at home and abroad.


The terms and conditions of employment including remuneration are based on cantonal guidelines. The successful candidate will not be required to reside in Switzerland, although this would be desirable.


Other requirements include a very good knowledge of English. Applicants without any knowledge of German are required to develop their language skills during their first year of employment (B1).
