To celebrate, we will host a gala-conference and party on Friday, November 27 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Berlin.
With 100 issues and a quarter-century of politically and theoretically driven art criticism to its name, Texte zur Kunst has undoubtedly made a mark on the German/English speaking art world, if not the global conversation at large. Both in the role it’s played in establishing many, now universally acclaimed artists and in the evolution of the primary art critical methods used in this field, Texte zur Kunst has, since the early 1990s, certainly shaped the common canon—and has arguably produced a canon of its own. On occasion of its anniversary, TzK takes stock of this history with a gala/conference to be held on November 27 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. For this event, 25 writers, artists, and theorists from different generations, via various forms of performances, dialogues, and short talks, will argue for that which they each take to be canonical as well as the processes of canonization generated across 25 years of TzK.
