At the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, the creative process begins with curiosity. It is a community that challenges limited notions of research and embraces the role of creative practice in the creation of new knowledge. Stamps maker-scholars make work that has an impact on the world at large.

The Stamps School is accepting applications for their MFA in Art program through January 6, 2020.

Learn more about the Stamps School’s approach to transdisciplinary studio and post-studio work, their commitment to collaborations across fields of study, their summer fieldwork travel requirement (domestic or international), and their need for rigorous inquiry to fuel culturally relevant work with a clearly articulated context. Explore Stamps grad theses and creative work to see the essence of the program in action. Take a virtual tour of the grad studio facilities. Financial support—including stipends, assistantships, and tuition waivers—is available.

“MFA students at Stamps synthesize knowledge, skills, and experiences into creative work that provides (and provokes) new insights about life, environments, culture, society, and the complex networks and relationships that bind them together.” Elona Van Gent, Professor
