The third Tallinn Photomonth launches on 17 September with the opening of Prosu(u)mer, an exhibition curated by David Raymond Conroy at The Museum of Contemporary Art Estonia (EKKM).

Tallinn Photomonth is an artist-led biennial of contemporary art that engages with the economy and politics of contemporary photographic practices and their contribution to the construction of vernacular reality. The artistic leader of Tallinn Photomonth ’15 is Kristel Raesaar.

Artist David Raymond Conroy has been invited to curate the main international exhibition for Tallinn Photomonth ’15. Born in the UK in 1978 and currently based in Brussels, Conroy works across photography, sculpture and performance. On this occasion he has agreed to step into the role of curator to address questions of authorship and the ethics of circulation of artworks and cultural artefacts. Prosu(u)mer will bring together a selection of international artists such as Andrea Büttner, Gil Leung, James Richards, Liina Siib, Philippe Thomas, Kohei Yoshiyuki and other practitioners to examine the interwoven positions of the producer and the consumer in art and beyond.

Other exhibitions in the biennial’s main programme will run throughout the autumn at Tallinn Art Hall, Tartu Art Museum and Tartu Art House. The 6h Photographic Art Fair Estonia will take place from 2 to 4 October, with a VIP preview on 1 October.

Supporters and partners of Tallinn Photomonth ’15 include The Cultural Endowment of Estonia, The Ministry of Culture of Estonia, The Gambling Tax Council, The Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center, Enterprise Estonia, The European Regional Development Fund, Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia, Frame Visual Art Finland, The Finnish Institute in Estonia, Temnikova & Kasela Gallery, Positiiv, KUNST.EE, Lugemik, EAA photography department and others.
